Exchange 2007 Information Store Problem Part 2

I am happy to say the Information Store problem is solved. We layed on an article by Microsoft which was posted just in November last year.

As I understood the problem is caused when the store tries to use the maximum of threads to process RPCs ( Remote Procedure Calls ). The maximum allowed is 500 RPCs. The throttle for this can be found in the registry.

It was exactly what we needed !

Three registry keys need to be deleted

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\store.exe\RpcThreadPoolThrottle\ProrateFactor

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\store.exe\RpcThreadPoolThrottle\ProrateStart

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\store.exe\RpcThreadPoolThrottle\ProrateMax

The Exchange server needs to be restartet after the keys have been deleted !

Find the Microsoft KB article here. For a change it is short and clear.

Hopefully this helps to safe a lot of time and prevent inconveniences when you experience this kind of problem in your Exchange server environment.

This is helpful, indeed! The link was surprising very concise. Exchange server problems can be tricky but this post made it easy to solve.

I would have been happy if the duration of the problem itself would be that short as this post :)

Thank you, hopefully this will solve our problems also :)
All we can do is wait now.

Hope it helps to solve your problem. We monitored this issue about 10 days after we have removed the registry keys. The problem did not occur again.
